The Progressive Care Unit at Northwest Hospital provides specialized care centered on the whole person with a focus on cardiac, neurologic, and metabolic diagnoses. PCU staff members are outgoing, positive, and open to the challenge of developing strong organizational and critical thinking skills to assess patient status, implement clinical nursing interventions to modify symptoms towards improving outcomes.
Position Summary:
Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, provides continuous monitor observation and rhythm strip documentation. Documents and interprets rhythm strips for all patients. Communicates appropriate nurses of changes in cardiac rhythms. As a member of the nursing unit, conducts self to promote an organized and positive environment.
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Provides continues cardiac monitor observation
- Documents and interprets rhythm strips for each patient per unit requirement
- Positions and handles patients with a high degree of safety and professionalism
- Recognizes and reports any adverse reactions, events or possible safety concerns.
Qualifications/Requirements
Entry level knowledge; basic employment skills.
Less than 1 year of experience
Basic computer skills; BLS/CPR card from AHA.
• Training in Cardiac monitoring and documentation- Certification Preferred
• Successful completion of Arrhythmia test with a minimum score of 90% and no lethal rhythms missed within 60 days of employment
