Performs diagnostic scans and procedures using applied principles and protocols, interviews and prepares patients for procedures,
obtains pertinent history/diagnosis, operates all equipment proficiently, reports mechanical issues to appropriate contact,
knowledgeable of anatomy and pathology, ability to start IV s and completes IV competency course, good working relationships.
Follows compliance guidelines by diligently verifying clinical information, including appropriate patient-tech data sheet for allergies and creatinine lab work, contrast informed consent, and communicates any issues with Radiologists, Residents and/or referring physicians. Practices Error Prevention techniques, including but not limited to: verifying patient ID by 2 means, “repeat backs”, clarifies numbers and letters with phonetics, follows RED RULES, demonstrates proper sterile technique for IV injections and during interventional procedures, administers contrast according to departmental protocol. Is familiar with PACS and checks daily QA. Willingness to teach and train. Attends departmental meetings. Responsible for checking communication logbook daily and email daily. Willingness to shift work hours according to departmental needs. Carefully adheres to ALARA radiation safety techniques and scans anatomical areas in accordance with exam ordered; ensures patient satisfaction and contributes to positive patient experience; has ‘can do’ attitude, provides constructive input and supports management decisions
