Labor & Delivery Unit - Travel Registered Nurse

Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Experience:

• 12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.

• Must have at least 36 months of Labor & Delivery Unit experience.

• BSN completion preferred

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Maryland license or compact license (required for submission).

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <60 miles from facility will be processed as local.

• Flu vaccination required for submission. Declinations not accepted.

Additional Details:

Previous Employment Requirements: If a nurse has held previous employment with Medstar, must be gone for a minimum of 1 year to return as a traveler.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • May consider 2 years.
  • Charge and Preceptor experience.
  • Circulate for C-section, Antepartum/Intrapartum/Postpartum/Couplet Care proven experience.
  • Previous Charge experience

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Triage, Proficient in sterile vaginal exams, Baby Friendly hospital experience highly preferred
  • Teaching and Community Hospital experience

Required Credentials: Candidates must hold C-EFM through NCC or register for C-EFM during the compliance phase or within the first two weeks of the assignment.

Procedures/Diagnostics/Treatments Performed on Unit:

  • Versions
  • Cerclage Removal
  • D&C
  • D&E

Types of Patients on Unit: Patient Age Groups: Neonates, Adolescents, Adults

Special Requests: RTO must be on the submittal and cannot be changed once the profile has been sent to the manager for review.

Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend requirement.

Floating Requirements: Can be floated to Postpartum/Couplet care, “feeder / grower” assignments in SCN (our Level II NICU).

References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years.

Manager may or may not interview. Clinician must be okay with this. If Clinician has questions, please email the AM.

7 days maximum time off

2 references from last 12 months (Manager/Supervisor reference type) - required for submission

• BLS (Basic Life Support)

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program – 8th Edition)

• Intermediate AWHONN FHM (Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring)

• STABLE (Sugar, Temperature, Airway. Blood Pressure, Lab work and Emotional Support)

• C-EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
