We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented
Product Designer with strong
3D design experience to join our product development team. This role will focus on developing consumer products with an emphasis on
toys, plush, baby, toddler, and children's products.
The ideal candidate can take a product from an initial idea through sketches,
3D development, rendering, prototyping, and production. This individual should have a strong sense of form, function, color, materials, and child-friendly design while also understanding how products are manufactured.
Experience designing
toys, plush, juvenile products, children's products, or similar consumer products is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop new product concepts from initial ideas through production.
- Create hand sketches, digital concepts, and presentation drawings to communicate product ideas.
- Create and modify 3D models of products and components.
- Produce realistic 3D product renderings and visualizations for design reviews and presentations.
- Translate 2D sketches and concepts into three-dimensional product designs.
- Develop product shapes, forms, proportions, features, colors, patterns, and details.
- Design products with consideration for appearance, function, usability, materials, manufacturing, and cost.
- Develop concepts for toys, plush, soft goods, molded products, and other children's products.
- Create product specifications, design drawings, and visual references for development.
- Develop color, material, and finish (CMF) recommendations.
- Research competitive products, trends, materials, colors, and new product opportunities.
- Review prototypes and product samples and provide clear design feedback.
- Compare prototypes and samples against the original design intent.
- Revise designs and 3D models based on prototype reviews, manufacturing requirements, and team feedback.
- Work with Product Development and Engineering to resolve design and manufacturing challenges.
- Communicate design intent clearly to internal teams and manufacturing partners.
- Support multiple product-development projects simultaneously from concept through production.
3D Design & Visualization
3D design is an important part of this position. Candidates should be comfortable using 3D tools as part of their normal product-design workflow.
Responsibilities include:
- Creating 3D product concepts and models.
- Developing and refining product forms in 3D.
- Converting sketches and concepts into 3D designs.
- Creating realistic product renderings.
- Applying materials, textures, colors, and finishes to 3D models.
- Creating multiple product variations efficiently.
- Modifying models based on design and development feedback.
- Preparing 3D files that can be communicated to engineering, prototyping, or manufacturing teams.
- Understanding how a 3D concept translates into a physical manufactured product.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Toy Design, or a related field preferred.
- Professional experience in product or industrial design.
- Experience designing toys, plush, children's products, juvenile products, or similar consumer productsstrongly preferred.
- 3D modeling experience is required.
- Ability to develop product concepts from sketch through 3D visualization.
- Experience creating high-quality product renderings and presentations.
- Strong sketching and concept-development skills.
- Strong understanding of form, proportion, color, materials, and product aesthetics.
- Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Understanding of product development and manufacturing processes.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to receive feedback and quickly explore design revisions.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
3D Software
Experience with one or more professional 3D design platforms is required. Examples may include:
SolidWorks, Rhino, Fusion 360, Blender, KeyShot, ZBrush, Cinema 4D, 3ds Max, or comparable 3D modeling/rendering software.
We are more interested in a candidate's
3D modeling ability, design thinking, and quality of work than experience with one specific software package.
Experience creating models suitable for
prototyping, 3D printing, engineering development, or manufacturing is a plus.
