Acountant I
Position Summary
The Accountant I is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization. This role ensures timely processing of financial transactions, maintains organized accounting records, and assists with month-end and year-end procedures. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and committed to accuracy while demonstrating a desire to learn and grow within the accounting profession.
Essential Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
- Process vendor invoices accurately and timely.
- Match purchase orders, receipts, and invoices.
- Prepare weekly payment runs via check, ACH, or electronic payment.
- Maintain vendor files and W-9 documentation.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Respond to vendor inquiries professionally.
Accounts Receivable
- Prepare and distribute customer invoices.
- Record customer payments and deposits.
- Monitor outstanding receivables and assist with collections.
- Maintain accurate customer account records.
General Bookkeeping
- Record daily financial transactions.
- Maintain the general ledger through accurate journal entries.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and other balance sheet accounts.
- Assist with monthly closing procedures.
- Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Prepare recurring financial reports for management.
Payroll Support
- Assist with payroll processing and recordkeeping.
- Maintain employee payroll documentation.
- Ensure payroll transactions are accurately recorded.
Desired Qualifications
- Associate degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 2+ years of bookkeeping or accounting support experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of bookkeeping principles and accounting practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience using accounting software.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with financial information.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
