GovFirst is seeking dependable and safety-conscious Highway Maintenance Laborers / Transportation Operators to support roadway maintenance operations in Seaford, VA.
The successful candidate is responsible for:
- Assist with repairs and maintenance of state roadways and surrounding rights-of-way.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and highway maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
- Perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance on equipment and tools.
- Follow all applicable VDOT, OSHA, VOSHA, company, and industry safety standards and procedures.
- Wear and properly utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.Support roadway maintenance and construction activities as assigned.
- Perform heavy manual labor, including lifting, carrying, loading, and unloading materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Assist with emergency response operations, including snow removal, storm response, accident cleanup, and other disaster-related activities.
- Participate as an active member of the maintenance crew to complete assigned projects and operational objectives.
- Respond to emergency call-outs, including nights, weekends, holidays, and adverse weather when required.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, project management, and team members regarding work assignments and project progress.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisory staff or project management.
