Preschool Lead Teacher

The Lead Teacher position is responsible for overseeing a Head Start program for children aged 3-5 years, ensuring a safe, nurturing environment that fosters social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. This role involves leading classroom staff and collaborating with families to support children's overall growth, while adhering to Head Start Performance Standards, state regulations, and MVCDC policies.

• Plan, implement, and supervise a developmentally appropriate educational program for children aged 3-5 years.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the unique needs of each child, ensuring an inclusive and organized classroom environment.
• Conduct child assessments, maintain accurate records, and support screenings, referrals, and IEP processes.
• Supervise and support classroom staff, volunteers, and collaborate with families to address their needs and provide resources.
• Implement positive guidance and behavior management strategies to maintain a safe and respectful classroom environment.
• Facilitate smooth daily routines and transitions, ensuring a well-structured learning environment.
• Maintain open communication with families through home visits, parent conferences, and regular updates.
• Collaborate with staff to support family needs, provide resources, and maintain compliance with program policies and regulations.
• Ensure a healthy, safe, and sanitized environment, with active supervision and adherence to safety standards.
• Pursue professional development opportunities, including required trainings and workshops.

• Valid Driver’s License and/or access to transportation to other centers as needed
• Ability to meet and maintain compliance with ODJFS, USDA, Health, and Sanitation regulations
• Knowledge of Head Start/Early Head Start program standards
• Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for children aged 3-5 years
• 2 years of teaching experience working with Head Start or Pre-K children (required)
• Associate’s Degree (required), Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education (preferred)

• Prior experience in a leadership role, preferably in early childhood education, can be an asset to this position.
• The ability to work with families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds is highly valued.
• Bilingual skills, particularly in English and Spanish, can be beneficial for this role.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel, can facilitate daily tasks and communication.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills are essential for building strong relationships with families and staff.
• A collaborative and organized approach, with a strong commitment to children's and families' well-being, is highly desirable.
• A willingness to pursue ongoing professional development and learning is a key aspect of this position.
• Demonstrated knowledge of child and family curriculum, Conscious Discipline principles, and Head Start practices can be an asset to this role.
