Senior Project Manager / Business Unit Lead - Municipal Engineering

Mid-Atlantic Region | Full-Time

Salary Range: $165,000 - $210,000

Location:Offices throughout the Mid-Atlantic (hybrid possibility for established in-state engineers)

Our client, a well-established and growing multidisciplinary engineering and consulting firm with nearly 80 years of excellence, is seeking aSenior Project Manager or Business Unit Leadto oversee and expand their Municipal Engineering practice across multiple regional offices.

This is astrategic leadership opportunitywith a clear path to executive-level advancement. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise, operational leadership, and business development acumen to help shape the future of the Municipal Engineering division.

PE License (Professional Engineering License) is mandatory

Key Responsibilities:

  • Division Leadership:Provide vision and direction for the Municipal Engineering team across multiple offices, mentoring emerging leaders and fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Project Oversight:Lead the planning, design, and execution of complex municipal infrastructure projects including roads, stormwater systems, utilities, and development projects.
  • Technical Authority:Serve as a senior technical resource on municipal systems design, site development, stormwater management, public works, and utility coordination.
  • Client Engagement:Build and maintain strong relationships with municipal clients, authorities, developers, and public sector entities.
  • Regulatory Compliance:Ensure all projects meet applicable municipal codes, zoning requirements, and permitting standards.
  • Business Development:Support strategic growth initiatives, including proposal development, client outreach, and new market penetration.
  • Operational Management:Potential to lead a regional office with full P&L responsibility, depending on location and experience.

Requirements:

  • Education:Bachelor's or Master's in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer License(at minimum the ability to obtain within 2 years)
  • Experience:10+ years in municipal/civil engineering, with a track record of leadership in infrastructure projects
  • Technical Skills:Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, stormwater modeling software, and municipal design applications
  • Leadership:Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior staff
  • Mobility:Willingness to attend public meetings and travel between regional offices as needed
  • Business Acumen:Experience with or aptitude for business development and client relationship management
