ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

• Providesand directs fast, efficientBasicLife Supporttothe ill and injured utilizing allbasicand abilities and techniques, includingbut notlimited to the placement of airway adjuncts, supraglottic airways, and AEDuse includingdefibrillation;

• Recognizesandunderstandsamedicalemergency and makesreasonable and acceptabledifferentialdiagnosis;

• Performscritical physical examinations;

•Understands andanticipatesthepharmacologicaltreatmentof criticallyillandinjuredpatients;

•Understands and anticipates potentially life-threatening presentation ofnon-cardiacemergencies andinstitutesappropriate emergency therapy whereessentialforthepreservation oflife;

• Dealswithmedicalandemotionalneeds of anyvictimof acute illnessorinjurywith thegoal of reducing mortality and morbidity;

• Responsible formanaging and directing allfirst respondersat the scene of a medical emergency such asEMR's,PoliceDepartments,and other EMT's;

•Responsible for quality patient-care as established by the Company;

• Files standardizedreports of patientinformationand care for the use ofreceivinghospitaland administration, includingnatureof request for aid, pertinentpasthistory,therapyprovideddiagnosis,dispositionandsufficient patientinformation forbillingpurposes;

•Maintains effective communication with physician ondutyat hospital to relate patient conditionand obtain ordersfor treatment;

• Followsstandard writtenguidelines when aphysiciancannotbecontacted;

• Transports the ill andinjured to institutionsof medicalcare;

•Operatesemergency vehiclesina safe manner under all conditions;

•Cleans andmaintainsequipment;

• Properly completes patient statistics and medicalinformationforms for administrative use;

• Performstechnical rescuesinremoving victimsfromvariedterrainandcircumstancesand,

• Followsstandardoperatingpolicies and procedures as developed and directed by theCompany.

ADDITIONAL EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

• Cleans and maintains (minor maintenance) vehicles;

•Cleans andmaintains livingquarters;

•Maintains records of vehicles, supplies,traininganddailywork;and,

• Performs other related duties asassigned.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

The supervisor makes assignments in terms of shifts to be worked and the general scope of the work assignment. The incumbent performs the work in accordance with the procedures, policies and medical orders provided. The incumbent must exercise judgment in applying the proper guideline to the proper situation. The work is spot checked and evaluated on the basis of feedback from the patient, medical staff and others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

•Must possess andmaintain:

• EMR Licensure

• CPRforthe Health Care Provider

• Goodknowledgeofthestreet systems, addresses andphysicallayout of the area, and oftherescue equipmentand the emergencymedicalequipmentused in Basic Life Support.

Good ability to:

• performtechnicalmedicalskills with a highdegree ofaccuracy;

• understandand effectively deal with emotionaland medical needs ofvictims ofinjuries,acute illnesses, or psychologicalemergencies;

• maintainaprofessional andobjective approachto thecare ofillor injured persons;

•learn newconceptsinrescue and medicalskills andtechniques andinpre-hospitalcare;

•performavariety oflimited mechanicalworkinvolvedin theuse,testing andmaintenance of rescueandmedicalequipment;

•directthework of, and teach other personnel;

• understandand follow oral and writteninstructionsandorders;

• maintain aprofessionalattitude when representingthe Company;

• establishand maintain effective working relationships with other employees, assistingagencies,hospital personnel, andthe general public;

• driveand operate emergency ambulanceunits;and,

•authorreportswithnarrativeandnumericinformation.

•Additionally,incumbentsmust maintaina high degree ofacademicand practicalknowledge in emergency medicine, andmustattendsufficientcontinuing educationclasses,courses, and seminars bothon andoffduty tomaintain annual certification, as requiredby thestatein whichyou willbeworking.

•Must successfully obtain and maintain state/national EMT Certification within 12 months of hire date as a condition of continued employment.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

The work requires theincumbenttooperate emergency medical vehicles,move medicalequipmentandextractinjured personsfrom a wide variety of situations. Situation caninvolvevehicular,industrialand residential accidents,injuriesorillnessand occur anywhereinour coverage area. At timesthework requires movement over various types ofterrain, (hilly,steep,rocky, rough, and/or wet/slippery surfaces).Theincumbentat all times must be abletocarry orhelpcarry someone fromthesite oftheinjury tothe modeof transportation(vehicle/helicopter)and attendtheinjuredparty to the hospital.In orderto performaphysicalassessment ofthe injured party, the incumbentmust see,hear,and communicate with the injuredparty.

Incumbentswillbe issuedand mustwear Company issued uniformswhile onduty;additionally,incumbentswillbe responsible for the maintenanceand cleaning ofuniforms,as wellasallissuedequipment.

Incumbents are required to carry a Company issued pager/radio at all times in orderto receive immediatenotification ofan assignment.
