Our client is seeking an experienced and hands-on Accounting Manager to lead and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys leading transactional accounting teams, improving processes, and ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of the company’s cash inflows and outflows. The Accounting Manager will play a key role in developing staff, strengthening internal controls, and partnering with leadership to improve financial operations.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide leadership and oversight for the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions
  • Lead, mentor, and develop AP and AR team members
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices, payments, customer invoices, cash applications, and collections
  • Monitor AP and AR aging and work with the team to resolve outstanding issues
  • Oversee customer collections and help establish effective processes for managing past-due accounts
  • Ensure vendors and suppliers are paid accurately and on time
  • Review and improve processes, workflows, and internal controls within the AP and AR functions
  • Identify opportunities for automation and increased efficiency
  • Assist with month-end close activities, including account reconciliations and accruals
  • Review key balance sheet accounts and support the accuracy of financial records
  • Partner with operations, purchasing, sales, and other internal departments to resolve billing, payment, and customer account issues
  • Develop and monitor key performance metrics for the AP and AR teams
  • Assist with audit requests and provide supporting documentation as needed
  • Participate in special projects and other accounting initiatives

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Previous supervisory or management experience is preferred, but will consider indirect leadership as well
  • Strong understanding of AP, AR, cash application, collections, reconciliations, and month-end close
  • Experience improving accounting processes and implementing stronger controls
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Comfortable being both a hands-on contributor and people leader
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience working within an ERP or accounting system
