About This Role- The co-teacher is a second teacher in the classroom.
What You'll DoAssist the classroom teacher
- Supervising and ensuring the safety of children at all times.
- Preparing and organizing meals and snacks, assisting children with feeding.
- Helping children maintain personal hygiene, including changing diapers and assisting with restroom needs.
- Assist with age-appropriate activities that promote physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
- Help with daily schedules and routines to balance playtime, educational activities, rest, and meals.
- Observe and document children's behavior and development, reporting concerns to parents or supervisors.
- Communicate with the classroom teacher about the child's progress and any incidents.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment, including cleaning toys and activity areas.
- Other tasks as assigned by the director
Requirements- At least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED
- Satisfactorily completed 1 DCF-approved course or be enrolled in a training within 6 months after assuming the position.
- Has or willing to obtain training in: CPR/First Aid, SIDS,/Shaken Baby, Mandated Reporter, and Abusive Head Trauma
- Must meet yearly training requirements
- Health exam, with TB test
- Must pass background checks: name and fingerprint
- Be able to perform physical labor as needed for the position
