Blunier Builders, Inc. is a construction company located in Washington, IL that specializes in post frame buildings (pole buildings) for a variety of applications including agriculture, residential, and commercial use. We are seeking a detail-oriented, collaborative Architectural Drafter & MTO Specialist to join our growing team. The individual will be required to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. If you are a CAD expert who thrives on technical precision, cross-team collaboration, innovative design solutions, this is the role for you.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive blueprint packages utilizing modern CAD modeling software systems, producing exact floor plans, elevation layouts, structural sections, custom construction details, and precise truss drawings.
  • Own the project designby drafting complete, construction-ready architectural building plans derived directly from preliminary designs and client contracts.
  • Generate detailed shop drawings: shop for fabrication items such as custom cedar trusses, structural I-beams, and all pre-fabricated building components ready for the construction team to assemble
  • Optimize project efficiency and ensure budget accuracy through accurately detailed material take-off lists.
  • Compile and deliver finalized project material lists seamlessly matched with corresponding structural drawings for production teams.
  • Engage in collaborative peer reviews of architectural drawings and material order lists to guarantee accuracy before site production begins.

Job Qualifications:

  • Detail Oriented & Good Organizational skills are a must
  • Strong communication skills, both written & verbal: Ability to decipher subcontractor proposals and actively participate in professional peer reviews.
  • Analytical Math Skills: Proven capability to calculate precise material take-offs and manage estimation metrics.
  • Strong proficiency in a professional CAD drafting modeling software
  • Blueprint Experience: Understanding of residential or commercial construction components, including layouts, custom sections, and truss configurations
  • Min. 3 (preferably 5+) years of drafting experience developing plans for buildings, preferably in post-frame industry
