A respected law firm in the Waukesha area is seeking an experienced
Litigation Legal Assistant to support a growing litigation practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys managing multiple priorities, and takes pride in producing high-quality work.
The firm is experiencing continued growth in litigation and eminent domain matters and is looking to add a strong litigation support professional to its team. The ideal candidate will bring solid litigation experience, excellent organizational skills, and a proactive approach to supporting attorneys and clients.
Key Responsibilities- Support attorneys in all phases of civil litigation matters
- Prepare, proofread, revise, and finalize pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, and other legal documents
- Electronically file court documents and ensure proper service on all parties
- Coordinate subpoena requests and work with process servers
- Prepare and finalize discovery responses and litigation filings
- Manage attorney calendars, court dates, deadlines, and related litigation tasks
- Monitor active case files and proactively identify upcoming attorney needs
- Communicate professionally with clients, attorneys, judicial assistants, court personnel, and staff
- Maintain accurate case records and document management systems
Qualifications- 3+ years of legal assistant experience, with a strong focus on litigation
- Civil litigation experience strongly preferred
- Knowledge of litigation procedures, court rules, and filing requirements
- Experience with state and county court systems
- Strong understanding of e-filing processes and document formatting requirements
- Exceptional proofreading, grammar, spelling, and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Experience with document management and docketing systems is a plus
Compensation- Competitive compensation based on experience and legal background

- We are really looking for someone with legal experience and are not looking for candidates that would require (substantial) training.??This would be an in-person position and we pay based on years of legal experience. Salary range $65,000 - $80,000.
In addition, we are also open to a general civil litigation legal assistant.This would be a second hire.So, if you find candidates that have solid civil litigation experience, we would be open to them as well.

Qualifications and Skills:- More than three (3) years of hands-on legal support experience, with a strong emphasis in litigation
- Strong knowledge of litigation procedures, applicable laws, and local court rules, including experience working within various county court systems
- Experience electronically filing briefs, motions, and other court documents, and properly serving all parties
- Knowledge of subpoena procedures, coordination with process servers, and preparation and finalization of discovery responses and pleadings
- Ability to format and file briefs in accordance with court-specific requirements
- Exceptional grammar, spelling, proofreading, and attention-to-detail skills
- Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize competing deadlines
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple active matters
- Flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to assist where needed
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare professional letters and memoranda
- Professional communication skills when working with clients, judicial assistants, attorneys, and staff
- Experience calendaring court dates, deadlines, and related litigation tasks
- Ability to monitor open files and identify work needed by attorneys on those matters
- Minimum typing speed of 65 words per minute
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel; experience with a document management system and electronic calendar/docket system is preferred but not required
- Ability to lift not more than 20 pounds, as needed

Overview- Anticipated need due to upcoming litigation and eminent domain projects. The firm would still hire immediately if the right candidate is found.
- Focus is on finding a strong litigation legal assistant rather than filling a specific attorney assignment today.
Ideal Candidate- 3+ years of legal experience considered; ideally 5-10 years at a reputable firm.
- Civil litigation experience preferred.
- Plaintiff or defense experience is acceptable.
- Bankruptcy-heavy backgrounds are generally not preferred.
Salary- Same compensation philosophy as the family law position.
- Experience-based; no specific salary range was stated during the meeting.
