Hinterland Group provides electrical and infrastructure services supporting municipal and private water and wastewater systems throughout Florida and the Carolinas. Our electrical work includes the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment used in water and wastewater facilities and related infrastructure projects.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Industrial Water & Wastewater Electrical Work

• Perform electrical work at water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, lift stations, and other industrial process facilities.
• Install and service pumps, motors, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, control panels, instrumentation, alarms, generators, and related systems.
• Plan work around active treatment processes, shutdowns, bypass operations, corrosive environments, and the need to maintain facility operations.

2. Electrical Installation & Maintenance

• Install, modify, repair, and maintain conduit, conductors, panels, controls, equipment connections, grounding, and related electrical systems.
• Read and apply electrical drawings, control diagrams, specifications, approved submittals, manufacturer instructions, and code requirements.
• Complete terminations, labeling, supports, testing, and other work within license and authorization limits.

3. Testing, Troubleshooting & Commissioning

• Use meters and approved test equipment to diagnose three-phase power, motor, control, instrumentation, and communication-system issues safely.
• Test circuits, equipment, protective devices, interlocks, alarms, and control functions and document required corrections.
• Support equipment startup, commissioning, functional testing, punch-list completion, and final system verification.

4. Leadership, Safety & Code Compliance

• Provide daily direction, instruction, and task oversight to electrical apprentices and helpers and verify the quality of completed work.
• Follow applicable electrical codes and company procedures for lockout/tagout, arc-flash protection, energized work, grounding, excavation, confined spaces, and testing.
• Maintain required personal protective equipment, permits, barriers, housekeeping, and safe access and exercise stop-work authority when hazards or code concerns are identified.

5. Coordination, Materials & Documentation

• Coordinate electrical work with civil, mechanical, controls, bypass, utility, startup, and commissioning activities.
• Plan daily labor, material, tool, equipment, access, shutdown, and inspection needs with the Electrical Qualifier and Project Manager.
• Complete time records, daily reports, inspections, photographs, quantities, receipts, test results, redlines, and system entries accurately and on time.

6. Required Experience & Licensure

• A demonstrated work history performing electrical construction, maintenance, or service in industrial water or wastewater facilities is required.
• A valid, active journeyman electrician license issued or recognized by the applicable Florida jurisdiction is required and must remain in good standing throughout employment.
• A valid Florida driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required for employees who operate company vehicles.
• The employee must provide accurate license and employment-history information and any documentation required to verify qualifications.
• Perform other related duties reasonably assigned based on project and business needs.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those required to perform the essential functions of this position. The employee is regularly required to communicate, stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, and work in active industrial and construction environments. The employee may be required to lift and move items weighing more than 50 pounds. Required vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Work may involve heat, humidity, rain, noise, wastewater exposure, electrical hazards, confined spaces, ladders, lifts, and uneven surfaces. The employee must be able to wear required personal protective equipment and safely access active water and wastewater facilities.
