We’re seeking experiencedLicensed Electriciansfor an upcoming opportunity at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston. This role is ideal for electricians skilled in maintaining, testing, and repairing critical electrical systems in commercial or healthcare facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical distribution systems
  • Service panels, switchgear, circuits, lighting, controls, and receptacles
  • Maintain emergency power systems, generators, transfer switches, UPS systems, VFDs, and motor controls
  • Troubleshoot medium-voltage, low-voltage, and critical facility systems
  • Test and maintain motors, breakers, generators, batteries, and controls
  • Use electrical testing equipment to identify faults and verify performance
  • Complete work orders, test records, field markups, and incident reports
  • Follow the National Electrical Code and all VA and safety requirements

Qualifications

  • Current, full, and unrestricted electrician license
  • At least5 years of commercial or hospital electrical experience
  • Experience with electrical installation, maintenance, repair, and testing
  • Knowledge of emergency power, generators, switchgear, VFDs, and controls
  • Ability to use multimeters, meggers, insulation testers, and power-quality meters
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code and applicable safety standards

Schedule

The facility operates 24 hours a day. Available shifts may include:

  • 7:30 AM–4:00 PM
  • 3:30 PM–12:00 AM
  • 11:30 PM–8:00 AM

Final shift assignments will be determined by the VA and may change based on facility needs. Federal holiday and emergency coverage may be required.
