We’re seeking experiencedCarpentersfor an upcoming opportunity at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston. If you take pride in quality craftsmanship, dependable work, and maintaining safe, functional facilities, we’d like to hear from you!

Responsibilities

• Construct, modify, repair, and maintain interior and exterior building components
• Work on walls, partitions, ceilings, doors, windows, trim, handrails, cabinets, shelving, and casework
• Install and repair ceiling grids, ceiling tiles, flooring components, ramps, curbs, platforms, scaffolding, and other structures
• Maintain doors and hardware, including locks, closers, thresholds, and weather stripping
• Safely operate portable and stationary woodworking equipment
• Inspect building components and identify necessary repairs
• Estimate the labor and materials required for assigned projects

Qualifications

• At least5 years of carpentry trade experience
• Commercial or hospital facility experience
• Experience with construction, repairs, finish carpentry, cabinetry, doors and hardware, ceiling systems, and flooring-related work
• Proficiency with woodworking tools and equipment
• Current, unrestricted license or certification when required by law or the work performed
• Ability to meet VA onboarding, background, training, health, and clearance requirements

Schedule

The facility operates 24 hours a day. Available shifts may include:

• 7:30 AM–4:00 PM
• 3:30 PM–12:00 AM
• 11:30 PM–8:00 AM

Final shift assignments will be determined by the VA and may change based on facility needs. Federal holiday coverage may be required.
