A well-established manufacturing organization in Lackawanna County is seeking an experienced Tooling Manager to lead its tooling and tool room operations. This hands-on leadership position will oversee tooling maintenance and development, support production, improve tooling reliability and efficiency, improve processes, and lead a skilled team of manufacturing professionals.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in tool room operations, metal stamping and tooling, and machining, along with the leadership skills needed to improve processes, advance initiatives, develop employees, and support production goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations of the tooling and tool room functions while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality.
• Supervise, train, coach, and develop tooling personnel.
• Oversee tooling maintenance, repair, new tool development, and related vendor activities.
• Manage tooling inventory, purchasing, budgets, and outside vendor relationships.
• Improve tooling reliability, quality, productivity, and overall equipment performance.
• Develop and implement tooling methods, standards, and processes that improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Work closely with Production, Engineering, and other departments to troubleshoot tooling issues and minimize downtime.
• Drive continuous improvement, standardization, and process improvement initiatives within the tooling operation.
• Support the development and implementation of tooling and fixturing solutions for production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field OR Journeyman Tool & Die Maker certification.
• 5+ years of experience in a tool room or tooling/manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of punching, stamping, and blanking dies.
• Experience with CAD/CAM software.
• Strong understanding of CNC and conventional machining and grinding processes.
• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
• Experience with Wire EDM, heat treatment, or fixture design is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and tooling specifications.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Hands-on leadership style with a focus on safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement.
