Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Taxonomy Lab Sorter to support environmental survey activities in a laboratory setting. The Taxonomy Lab Sorter will assist with sorting and identifying research specimens using a microscope and will be responsible for maintaining accurate records and following established laboratory procedures.
This is a part-time position well suited for someone with an interest in environmental science, biology, taxonomy, or laboratory research.
Key Responsibilities
- Sort and organize environmental research specimens and samples according to established procedures.
- Examine specimens using a microscope and accurately distinguish and categorize materials.
- Record observations and sample information accurately.
- Maintain organized work areas and handle specimens appropriately.
- Follow laboratory protocols, safety procedures, and quality-control standards.
- Perform repetitive sorting and microscope-based tasks with a high level of attention to detail.
- Assist with other laboratory and research-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Some experience with environmental research.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately on repetitive tasks.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and established laboratory procedures.
- No professional license or certification required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and handle materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods.
