A well-respected law firm with multiple offices is looking for an experienced Litigation Attorney to join a respected legal practice in their San Diego office (though mostly remote!). This hybrid opportunity is well suited for a lawyer who can manage civil litigation matters from early case assessment through resolution, including trial prep.
The role offers meaningful responsibility, including direct involvement in discovery, depositions, motion practice, and advocacy on matters involving public sector and municipality clients.
Responsibilities:
• Manage civil litigation matters through all phases of the case lifecycle, from initial evaluation and pleadings to trial preparation and resolution.
• Draft persuasive motions, briefs, and other court filings with careful attention to strategy, accuracy, and deadlines.
• Conduct written discovery, evaluate responses, and develop factual records that support case objectives.
• Take and defend depositions while effectively preparing witnesses and identifying key testimony.
• Represent clients in hearings, conferences, and other litigation-related proceedings.
• Advise on disputes involving public entities and apply knowledge of municipal law issues when relevant to the matter.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop case strategy, assess risk, and recommend practical legal solutions.
• Maintain proactive ownership of assigned files and move matters forward with limited oversight in a hybrid work environment.
• At least 5 years of legal experience, including substantial hands-on work in civil litigation.
• Active license to practice law in California.
• Demonstrated ability to handle litigation matters from inception through final disposition.
• Strong background in drafting motions, briefs, and other substantive legal documents.
• Experience managing discovery and participating in or leading depositions.
