ATCO STRUCTURES AND LOGISTICS (USA) INC. (“ASL-USA”) is seeking an MEPDesignerfor our OfficeinSpring.

The Electrical Designer supports the development of electrical system designs for modular building projects, including space rentals and workforce housing product lines.

This role provides design for all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) design activities across modular projects, including space rentals and workforce housing product lines and ensures all MEP systems designs, calculations, layouts, and compliance documentation meet applicable codes, modular regulations, and client specificationswhile supporting costeffective, reliable, and efficient building system solutions.

  • Provide MEP drawings, equipment specifications, system calculations
  • Design mechanical (HVAC), electrical (power, lighting, distribution), and plumbing system designs for modular buildings, ensuring constructability and code compliance.
  • Perform electrical load calculations
  • Perform Plumbing pressure design calculations
  • Integration of MEP systems with structural, architectural, and modular manufacturing requirements.
  • Implement modifications to MEP system designs to maintain compliance with IBC, NEC, IPC, IMC, and state modular codes.
  • Diagnose and resolve system design issues, clashes, energycode concerns, or performance requirements through sound engineering judgment.
  • Support accurate project estimating by providing MEP system quantities, equipment selections, and coordination with supply chain and manufacturing.
  • Maintain current knowledge of modular MEP codes, energy requirements, and design standards across relevant jurisdictions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Electrical Systems Design
    Experience with transformer, main panel, and subpanel sizing and panel schedules; power, lighting, and data layouts; single-line and grounding diagrams; grounding electrode systems (GES); conductor and conduit sizing; overcurrent protection and disconnect coordination; lighting controls; emergency and egress circuits; and NEC-compliant fixture placement, cable protection, and GFCI requirements. Modular construction experience preferred.
  • Mechanical (HVAC) Systems Design
    Experience designing packaged rooftop and vertical units, split DX systems, VRF, VAV, and CAV systems; performing load calculations and equipment sizing using Carrier HAP (Versions 5.11, 6.1, 6.2, or similar) or Trane TRACE 3D; ventilation calculations; air mass balancing & understanding of building pressurization; sequence-of-operations development; familiarity with HVAC for data/server rooms or other mission-critical applications (N + 1 redundancy). Familiarity with applicable standards, including ANSI/ASHRAE 62.1, ANSI/ASHRAE 90.1, IECC, SMACNA, AMCA, AHRI, and ASTM, as well as experience performing building energy-code compliance analyses using COMcheck or similar tools, would also be beneficial. Modular construction experience preferred.
  • Plumbing Systems Design
    Experience preparing plumbing fixture, domestic water, sanitary, vent, and isometric plans; ADA-compliant plumbing design; domestic water and sanitary pipe sizing; hot-water recirculation systems; backflow protection; pump and valve selection; water-heater sizing; pipe slope and pressure-loss calculations; and coordination of site manifolds and utility connections. Modular construction experience preferred.
  • 2+ years of MEP design or engineering experience in modular, residential, commercial, or industrial building projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of the International Building Code (IBC), NEC, IMC, IPC, energy codes, and modular construction requirements
  • Proficiency with MEP design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and estimating/scheduling platforms
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate MEP work across multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
