Maintenance Worker - POSITION TITLE: Warehouse Maintenance and Cleanup

INDUSTRY: Automotive Parts Distribution

Description of Position: After completion of proper training, a Warehouse maintenance employee moves material through the parts center using material handling equipment such as forklifts, stock chasers, tugs and picking carts as directed by the supervisor or lead person.

General Duties:

  • Remove empty pallets from location and place in an accumulation area by pallet size
  • Shred cardboard materials for use as packaging daily
  • Using floor scrubbers ride and walk behind to keep warehouse floor clean
  • Sort and place damaged materials in containers / bins for recycling
  • Inform management when trash compactor is full
  • Remove empty Komyo crates and place/stack them in the crate storage area
  • Destroy parts to render unusable
  • Maintain batteries for MHE
  • Water batteries
  • Stock packing boxes in packing areas
  • Stock excess packing boxes in storage areas
  • Remove empty boxes from Mezzanine/warehouse
  • Dust/Clean warehouse
  • Sweep/Clean outside dock area as needed
  • Clean skylights Once every 6 months
  • Clean spills/leaks/overflow
  • Strap crates/pallets for shipping to Hubs
  • Create cardboard bales recycling
  • Empty trash receptacles
  • Load empty pallets on pallet truck
  • Operate MHE
  • Breakdown/collect gaylord boxes as needed
  • Fill water dispensers
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • Ability to perform physical activities such as, standing, walking and lifting product up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to write legibly.
  • Ability to perform repetitive work.
  • Knowledge of safety requirements or procedures, including certification for machine operation.
  • Ability to count accurately.
  • Ability to use arm and hand movements to handle materials and product.
