The Business Development Manager is a dynamic, dual-role position responsible for both driving direct sales and leading a team of sales liaisons. This individual will build relationships with healthcare professionals and community partners, generate referrals and admissions, and mentor and develop a high-performing sales team.
The Business Development Manager will promote services across our assisted living, skilled nursing, long-term care, and therapy properties while working closely with our Marketing, Admissions, Clinical, and Operations teams.
What You'll Do:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with physicians, nurses, case managers, discharge planners, healthcare organizations, and community partners
- Promote Orchards assisted living, skilled nursing, long-term care, and Harvest Therapy services
- Generate patient referrals and admissions through consistent direct sales activity and relationship building
- Meet or exceed individual weekly and monthly sales activity, referral, and admission goals
- Utilize CRM systems to track sales activity, referral opportunities, relationships, and results
- Lead, coach, and mentor a team of sales liaisons
- Set clear expectations and goals while providing daily guidance and support
- Step in to cross-cover sales team responsibilities during absences or periods of high demand
- Conduct team meetings to review performance, identify opportunities, and address challenges
- Train and develop sales team members to help them reach their full potential
- Collaborate with Marketing, Admissions, Operations, and Clinical teams to support a successful referral and admissions process
- Participate in community events, educational programs, trade shows, and conferences to promote services and build awareness
- Develop and maintain relationships with hospitals, senior centers, physician offices, and other referral sources
- Assist residents and families in understanding services, financing options, and the admissions process
- Conduct facility tours and present information to prospective residents and families
- Assist with marketing materials, social media, website content, and community outreach initiatives
- Ensure referral processes and required documentation are completed accurately and timely
- Assist with payer verification and screening of prospective residents to ensure appropriate placement and level of care
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in healthcare, sales, marketing, business, or a related field
- Proven experience in sales, business development, account management, or a related field
- Demonstrated success meeting or exceeding sales goals
- Previous healthcare or long-term care experience preferred
- Strong communication, negotiation, relationship-building, and organizational skills
- Experience using CRM software and sales activity tracking tools
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key healthcare decision-makers
- Clinical background or understanding of reimbursement programs such as Medicare preferred
- Strong interpersonal and listening skills
- Ability to prioritize responsibilities and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively across departments
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to external referral sites
