Field Heavy Equipment Technician
Our client is seeking a resilient, highly resourceful Field Heavy Equipment Technician to perform autonomous diagnostics, maintenance, and emergency repairs on heavy construction and road paving equipment. This role is ideal for a battle-tested mechanicespecially those with a strong farmhand or ag backgroundwho knows how to work hard, adapt on the fly, and do whatever it takes to get down machines back up and running.If you have familiarity with equipment manufactured by CAT, Komatsu, John Deere, and similar, and think you have what it takes to repair these complicated and heavy duty machines on the field,we want to hear from you!
Position Style: Field-heavy | On-call & Overtime | 150+ mile travel radius (occasional overnights), first 6 months on-sitebefore taking consistent jobs.
Key Responsibilities:Field Repairs & Diagnostics: Perform advanced mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting (including schematic reading and voltmeter diagnostics) on construction, asphalt, and concrete equipment.
Problem Solving & Rework: Untangle complex issues, resolve field breakdowns, and correctly fix previous "quick-and-dirty" patch jobs with long-term, reliable solutions.
System Maintenance: Service high-pressure hydraulics, heavy diesel engines, electrical wiring, pneumatics, and perform field welding as needed.
Customer & Digital Communication: Clearly explain technical repairs to customers and log work orders, parts requests, and service reports using digital tools.
Safety & Autonomy: Work safely in high-stress, fast-paced environments, managing time efficiently with minimal direct supervision.
Experience: 5+ years servicing heavy construction, road paving, agricultural, or industrial equipment.
Hands-On Grit: Ideal candidates have a farm, ag, or heavy field backgroundused to long hours, mentally demanding troubleshooting, and extreme resourcefulness.
Technical Mastery: Advanced knowledge of 12V/24V electrical systems, voltmeters, hydraulic schematics, stick welding, and pneumatic schematics and tools.
Physical Capability: Able to lift up to 75 lbs, crawl into tight spaces, climb ladders, and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Requirements: Valid driver's license, your own set of basic hand tools, and a willingness to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts.
