School Crossing Guard (2 Positions)

Town of Groton Police Department

Part-Time, Seasonal, up to 12 hours per week

STARTING RATE:

$17.50 / hour

POSITION RANGE:

$17.50 - $19.25 / hour

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The School Crossing Guard directs and controls the flow ofvehicle and/or pedestrian traffic at crossings primarily used by school children. When authorized, the Crossing Guard may issue citations for violations of traffic regulations, or for failure to comply with directions. The Crossing Guard may be required to perform duties related to the safety of children in areas other than at crossings and at times other than during school hours provided that such assignments have been properly authorized.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be able to understand written and oral instructions, establish and maintain effective and courteous working relationships with stakeholders, and obtain cooperation from children. Must be able to enforce instructions effectively and firmly. Must be able to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift up to twenty pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Regular attendance is required. Experience working with children preferred.
