Job Description
We are looking for an Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting operations for a long-term contract opportunity based in Austin, Texas. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting specialist who can independently manage core financial activities, maintain accurate records, and support timely reporting across multiple functions. The position will play a key part in keeping payroll, payables, receivables, reconciliations, and month-end activities running smoothly while ensuring compliance with applicable accounting and tax requirements.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee end-to-end accounting activities in QuickBooks, including maintaining the general ledger, recording journal entries, and keeping financial data accurate and current.
• Handle supplier invoices and outgoing payments while also issuing customer billings and monitoring incoming receivables with a strong focus on timeliness and accuracy.
• Administer payroll for approximately 19 employees within QuickBooks, ensuring wages are processed correctly according to the established payroll calendar.
• Prepare payroll tax calculations, submit required federal, state, and local payments, and complete related filings within mandated deadlines.
• Support the monthly close process by preparing accruals, reserves, and other adjusting entries needed for complete and reliable financial reporting.
• Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts on a routine basis, investigating discrepancies and resolving issues promptly.
• Produce monthly financial summaries and management reporting for leadership, providing clear visibility into accounting results and key trends.
• Ensure accounting practices remain aligned with U.S. regulatory requirements and internal financial policies throughout the engagement.
• Assist with accounting data review, process documentation, and validation activities connected to the transition from QuickBooks to Oracle in coordination with finance and systems stakeholders.• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
• At least 6 years of progressive accounting experience covering multiple functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and tax.
• Strong hands-on QuickBooks experience with the ability to work independently and contribute immediately.
• Proven background processing payroll directly, including tax withholding calculations, remittances, and filing responsibilities.
• Solid understanding of U.S. accounting principles and compliance requirements.
• Experience managing the complete accounting cycle for a small to mid-sized organization as a primary accounting resource.
• Advanced organizational skills with the ability to manage recurring deadlines across payroll, tax filings, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
