Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support core accounting operations for a long-term contract opportunity in Louisville, Kentucky. This role will focus on maintaining accurate financial records, managing key close activities, and ensuring balance sheet accounts are properly supported. The ideal candidate brings strong general ledger expertise, sound judgment, and a detail-oriented approach to reconciliations and reporting deadlines.
Responsibilities:
• Lead month-end close activities, ensuring deadlines are met and financial results are recorded accurately.
• Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation and adherence to accounting standards.
• Maintain and analyze general ledger accounts to identify discrepancies and resolve issues in a timely manner.
• Complete account reconciliations regularly and investigate outstanding items to keep records current and accurate.
• Perform bank reconciliations, researching variances and coordinating corrections when needed.
• Review financial data for accuracy, consistency, and proper classification across accounting records.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to gather information needed for close, reconciliation, and reporting processes.• Proven experience working in a senior accountant or similar accounting role.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of month-end close procedures and general ledger activity.
• Experience preparing journal entries and supporting documentation with a high degree of accuracy.
• Demonstrated ability to perform account reconciliations and resolve variances efficiently.
• Practical experience completing bank reconciliations in a deadline-driven environment.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in financial record review.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a long-term contract assignment.
