Key Qualifications:
- Current certification or relevant experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, with the ability to provide high-quality interpretation in a school environment
- Familiarity with educational settings, preferably experience supporting DHH students
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with both students and staff
- Flexible, reliable, and ready to collaborate with educational teams and families
Primary Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, activities, and interactions for a DHH student
- Work directly with educators and support staff to ensure seamless communication access
- Maintain professional confidentiality and uphold the code of ethics for interpreters at all times
- Adapt interpretation to a variety of learning situations and student needs
- Proactively communicate any concerns or observations to relevant team members to support the student’s success
Position Details:
- On-site assignment at a Head Start center
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 2:00 pm (30 hours per week)
- Contract role focused on dedicated, one-on-one support for a single student
