Family Advisor

Location: Fairfield, NJ (On-Site)
Schedule: Full-Time
Salary: Up to $70,000 annually

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a compassionate and organized Family Advisor to support individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. This role combines care coordination, staff supervision, and client advocacy to ensure high-quality services that meet Medicaid, DDD, and state regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have experience managing client relationships, leading teams, and navigating community-based support programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and support a team of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), ensuring compliance with all training and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate onboarding activities, including background checks, fingerprinting, required training, and orientation
  • Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, and performance support to DSP staff
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, families, caregivers, and community partners
  • Monitor service delivery and ensure quality care standards are consistently maintained
  • Attend ISP meetings and assist with developing and implementing individualized support plans
  • Ensure compliance with NJ DDD, Medicaid, DHS, and other applicable regulations
  • Respond promptly to client and staff concerns, resolving issues professionally and efficiently
  • Analyze service and client-care data to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, providers, and stakeholders
  • Participate in community outreach and networking events to support client resources and engagement
  • Support urgent client needs outside normal business hours when necessary
  • Maintain CPR/First Aid certification and all required DDD/DHS training requirements
  • Act as a mandated reporter and cooperate with audits, investigations, and inspections as needed
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Healthcare Administration, Human Services, Psychology, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in client services, case management, healthcare, home care, or a related field
  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to build trust with clients, families, and caregivers
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is highly preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and authorized to work in the United States
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Successful completion of background screening, fingerprinting, drug testing, and all NJ DDD-required clearances
