Entry Level Manual Machinist - 1st Shift - 22/hr!

Job Description

As a machinist, you operate a manual lathe to perform drilling and tapping on various materials, ensuring accurate and consistent results using a tape measure for quality checks. You set up machines, perform tool changes, and assist in related production areas such as the paint booth and grit plastic department as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a manual lathe to perform drilling and tapping on a variety of materials.
  • Set up machines correctly before production, including securing fixtures and materials.
  • Perform tool changes safely and efficiently to meet production requirements.
  • Drill precise holes in fixtures according to specifications and blueprints.
  • Use a tape measure to inspect and verify part dimensions and overall quality.
  • Read and interpret basic blueprints to understand measurements and drilling locations.
  • Work with hand and power tools to support machining and related tasks.
  • Assist in the paint booth with part preparation and finishing as needed.
  • Support the grit plastic department with basic production and handling tasks.
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.

Essential Skills

  • Experience operating a manual lathe for drilling and tapping tasks.
  • Ability to set up machines and perform routine tool changes independently.
  • Proficiency using a tape measure to check dimensions and verify quality.
  • Basic blueprint reading skills to understand measurements and part requirements.
  • Comfort working with hand tools and power tools in a production environment.
  • Attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, consistent work.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work safely.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in a mechanical or manufacturing setting is helpful but not required.
  • Willingness to assist in the paint booth and grit plastic department as needed.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability in meeting production expectations.
  • Ability to learn new tasks quickly and adapt to different work areas.

Work Environment

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Springfield, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
