Job Title: Utility OperatorJob Description

The Utility Operator works in a busy distribution center that supplies office and facility-related products nationwide. In this role, you support day-to-day warehouse operations by performing a variety of general labor tasks such as packaging, palletizing, and preparing orders for shipment. This is an entry-level position that does not involve operating equipment or forklifts and requires flexibility to assist wherever needed within the warehouse.

Responsibilities
  • Package products, including cleaning supplies, paper goods, and other office-related items, according to established procedures and quality standards.
  • Pick items from warehouse locations to fulfill customer and internal orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Pack orders securely to ensure safe transit and proper presentation upon delivery.
  • Palletize boxed and packaged products in an organized manner to prepare them for shipping and storage.
  • Assist with shipping tasks, including staging orders, labeling, and organizing outbound shipments.
  • Perform general labor duties throughout the distribution center as assigned, supporting various areas as operational needs change.
  • Maintain flexibility and be willing to move between tasks and departments based on daily workload and priorities.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and warehouse protocols while working on your feet for the full shift.
  • Help keep work areas clean, organized, and free of debris to support a safe and efficient environment.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production and distribution goals within scheduled shift hours.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to stand on your feet for the entire shift (approximately 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday).
  • Capability to perform repetitive physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and moving products in a warehouse setting.
  • Basic ability to follow written and verbal instructions related to picking, packing, and shipping processes.
  • Willingness to perform general labor duties and adapt to different tasks throughout the day.
  • Reliability in adhering to the assigned first-shift schedule and meeting attendance expectations.
  • Attention to detail to ensure orders are picked and packed accurately and securely.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous warehouse experience is a plus.
  • Experience with pick and pack operations in a production or distribution center environment is beneficial.
  • Comfort working in an entry-level role with opportunities to learn and grow within the facility.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and safety standards.

Work Environment

The role is based in a very clean, well-ventilated distribution center focused on office and facility-related products. You work on a first shift schedule from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday. The environment is organized and production-oriented, with general warehouse activities such as picking, packing, palletizing, and shipping. The dress code aligns with typical warehouse attire suitable for physical work and safety, and you spend most of your time on your feet performing hands-on tasks.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Groveport, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
