Structural Engineer

DC Engineering is seeking a Structural Engineer to join our growing Structural Engineering team in Meridian, Idaho. This position is ideal for candidates with 2+ years of structural engineering experience who are passionate about delivering high-quality engineering solutions and working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. EIT, P.E., and S.E. candidates are encouraged to apply.

This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of commercial building projects, including wood-framed structures, concrete foundations, steel, masonry, and light-gauge steel construction. You will work closely with architects, contractors, owners, and other engineering disciplines while contributing to projects from concept through construction.

This is an in-office position that provides close collaboration with team members, direct client interaction, and opportunities for professional growth and advancement.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will:

• Perform structural analysis and design for commercial building projects.
• Develop structural calculations, specifications, and construction documents.
• Support Project Engineers and Project Managers throughout project execution.
• Coordinate with architects, owners, contractors, plan reviewers, and other engineering disciplines to develop effective project solutions.
• Participate in all phases of project delivery, including design, permitting, bidding, and construction administration.
• Work collaboratively with Revit designers, EITs, and other engineers to develop project deliverables.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, and deadlines appropriate to your experience level.
• Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal team members.
• Depending on experience and licensure, provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff and assist in leading project teams.
• May assist with project proposals and business development efforts.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will possess experience designing and detailing structural systems for commercial projects and have a strong understanding of wood-frame construction and concrete foundations. Experience with steel, concrete (including post-tensioned concrete), masonry, and light-gauge steel design is highly desirable.

The successful candidate will be collaborative, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.

• 2+ years of structural engineering experience.
• Experience designing and detailing structural systems for wood, concrete, steel, and masonry structures.
• Ability to effectively manage priorities, budgets, and project deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Experience with BIM concepts and Revit preferred.
• Familiarity with Bluebeam and PDF software.
• Experience with structural analysis and design software such as EnerCalc, RAM Suite, Bentley Suite, RISA, Adapt PT, and Hilti Profis preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, Outlook, Teams, and project time-tracking software.
• Ability to travel occasionally as project needs require.

Education & Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification required; Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
