LOCATION: New Braunfels, TX Field Service at drilling sites
CONTEXT:Our client is seeking a mechanically inclined Field Service Technician to install, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot specialized mud cooling and geothermal cooling units at drilling locations.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with solids control or drilling-fluid equipment experience, particularly working with shakers, centrifuges, pumps, mud systems, or related processing equipment. Direct experience with cooling units is not requiredtraining will be provided.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Install, rig up, operate, and rig down mud cooling and geothermal cooling units at drilling sites.
- Monitor equipment performance, fluid flow, temperature, pressure, and operating conditions.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on pumps, motors, valves, hoses, belts, bearings, and electrical components.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and basic electrical issues in the field.
- Coordinate with drilling crews, mud engineers, and solids control personnel to support efficient operations.
- Maintain accurate service, inspection, and maintenance records.
- Identify equipment or operational issues before they result in downtime.
- Keep equipment and work areas clean, organized, and ready for operation.
- Follow all company, customer, environmental, and drilling-site safety requirements.
- Travel to field locations and work extended or on-call hours when required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 2–3 years of experience in solids control, drilling operations, oilfield equipment, or field service.
- Hands-on experience with equipment such as shale shakers, centrifuges, mud cleaners, dryers, pumps, valves, tanks, or fluid-processing systems preferred.
- Previous experience as a Solids Control Technician, Derrickhand, Motorman, Mud Systems Technician, or similar drilling position is highly desirable.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment in a field environment.
- Basic electrical troubleshooting experience is preferred.
- Ability to read gauges, monitor fluid systems, and recognize changes in equipment performance.
- Strong safety awareness and familiarity with drilling-site procedures.
- Ability to climb ladders, work around drilling equipment, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Valid driver's license and reliable driving record.
- Willingness to work outdoors, travel to drilling locations, and adjust to changing field schedules.
Training on specialized mud cooling and geothermal cooling units will be provided.
