Baggage Handler

Looking for a hands-on job where every shift matters? Balanced Diversity is hiring Baggage Handlers / Unjammers to support baggage operations at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

This is a great opportunity for someone who is mechanically inclined, dependable, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and interested in building experience in airport operations.

You’ll help keep the baggage handling system moving safely and efficiently by:

• Responding to baggage stoppages and jams
• Clearing bags and resetting faults and alarms
• Transporting non-conveyable baggage
• Monitoring baggage handling and airline baggage operations
• Assisting technicians with basic maintenance and day-to-day operational needs
• Performing general labor duties as needed

The role works directly around baggage conveyor systems and mechanical equipment in secured airport areas.

We’re looking for people who are:

• Mechanically or technically inclined
• Proactive and able to work independently
• Detail-oriented and dependable
• Comfortable using computers and equipment
• Strong communicators with a customer-service mindset
• Able to stay focused and productive in a fast-paced environment
• Physically able to lift and transport up to 70 pounds

At least one year of experience in a technical environment is preferred.

This is a full-time position supporting a 24/7 airport operation, with three shifts available. Candidates must be flexible to work nights, weekends, overtime, and holidays when needed.

Because this position works in secured areas of LAX, candidates must be able to successfully complete required airport training, background/security checks, and the badging process.

This is an active airport operations role. You may work around moving mechanical equipment, aircraft noise, vibration, weather conditions, baggage handling areas, repair stations, and other secured areas of the airport. The work can be fast-paced because baggage operations must support airline schedules.
