Job Summary
Seeking a General Maintenance Technician II to join the Operations & Maintenance team in New Albany, Ohio.
This position provides an intermediate level of expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and repairing fixtures and systems in a data center environment.
Working under minimal supervision as part of a self-directed work team, this is a multi-craft position that may perform machine repairs and general non-licensed maintenance work, as well as support other licensed trades as directed.
The position requires a good working knowledge of various types and applications of equipment related to maintenance and operations for assigned areas, along with the ability to work within machine tolerances.
General maintenance duties may include minor carpentry, painting, and sheet metal work.
The General Maintenance Technician II must be able to identify and correct safety-related issues and independently evaluate equipment to identify potential equipment failures. General maintenance of equipment will also be required.
Responsibilities
- Perform planned maintenance on building equipment and related services for specific areas while being responsive to customer needs.
- Operate and maintain HVAC equipment and systems for the facility.
- Demonstrate proficiency with pneumatic, electric, and electronic control systems.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair:
- Heating and ventilation equipment
- Pumps
- Fans
- Air dryers
- Compressors
- Other mechanical equipment as necessary
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections.
- Develop and implement planned maintenance procedures.
- Perform job estimates.
- Maintain spare parts inventory and keep stock personnel informed of parts consumed from inventory.
- Assist with installing and inspecting new equipment and servicing installations.
- Provide support to coworkers, contractors, vendors, project managers, building managers, and engineers as necessary to support project and renovation work.
- Comply with all governmental, company, and industry regulations, codes, standards, health and safety practices, and permit systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Respond to work orders and provide service and feedback to customers while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Recommend measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.
- Safely perform job functions while following proper safety guidelines, including Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and PPE requirements.
- Operate measuring, diagnostic, and testing instruments to help provide energy efficiency solutions.
- Operate hand tools, laptop computers, and diagnostic hardware to perform work.
- Maintain a strict schedule while demonstrating flexibility with day-to-day activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager or Supervisor.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
- 3 years of experience as an HVAC/R Maintenance Technician or Facility Maintenance Technician in a:
- Data center
- Industrial environment
- Hospital
- Laboratory
- Manufacturing facility
- Or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to work in an aerial lift or scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher.
Additional Information
- Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
- This position may require a valid Driver's License.
- Must be able to obtain a security access badge at the client's location.
Physical Requirements
- Perform repetitive wrist movements.
- Walk extensively throughout facilities during the workday.
- Climb extension ladders, roof ladders, stepladders, and stairs as needed.
- Bend, stoop, squat, kneel, reach/stretch, and move in a 90-degree fashion during the workday.
- Differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding.
- Read and understand information contained in a variety of documents or displayed on a computer screen.
- Use office equipment and operate a computer keyboard to access databases, send/receive messages, and prepare documents.
- Attend meetings throughout the site and potentially travel to other Amentum, customer, and/or vendor locations in the area, as well as some air travel to more distant locations.
- Communicate with others by telephone and in one-on-one or group discussions, meetings, and presentations.
- Demonstrate fluency in computer use, including the full Microsoft product line.
- Move light to medium-weight materials into desks, filing cabinets, and other storage locations.
- Interact with clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.
Special Requirements
- Wear steel-toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Cope with job-related demands and workplace stressors while maintaining acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution.
OTHER ATTRIBUTES
- Must be willing to work overtime when required.
- May be required to work holidays and weekends.
- Work schedules can change based on critical business needs.
