We are currently seeking a HVAC Fabrication Managerto add to our growing team.

Location: 35 Southbelt Industrial Drive, Houston, TX 77047

Position Summary & Objective

The Fabrication Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing all fabrication operations within the manufacturing facility. This position leads fabrication supervisors and production personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production of custom HVAC equipment and components. The Fabrication Manager is accountable for meeting production schedules, maintaining quality standards, optimizing labor utilization, and driving continuous improvement initiatives throughout the fabrication process.

Key Responsibilities

Production Leadership

  • Manage daily fabrication operations, including sheet metal fabrication, welding, machining, and related production activities.
  • Establish production priorities and allocate resources to meet manufacturing schedules and customer commitments.
  • Monitor workflow, production output, labor utilization, and capacity to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate with Planning, Engineering, Purchasing, and Assembly departments to address production constraints and maintain workflow.
  • Review production schedules and adjust staffing or priorities as needed to meet deadlines.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop fabrication supervisors, leads, and production employees.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and workforce development initiatives.
  • Promote employee engagement, accountability, teamwork, and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Address employee relations concerns in partnership with Human Resources.

Quality Management

  • Ensure fabrication processes meet company quality standards, engineering specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Partner with Quality personnel to identify, investigate, and resolve production quality issues.
  • Monitor rework, scrap, and non-conformance trends and implement corrective actions.
  • Support quality audits and continuous improvement efforts.

Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain a strong safety culture through active leadership and accountability.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and safe work practices.
  • Conduct regular safety observations, inspections, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Investigate workplace incidents and implement preventive measures.
  • Ensure employees utilize required PPE and follow established safety procedures.

Operational Excellence

  • Analyze production metrics and implement improvements to increase productivity, efficiency, and throughput.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor labor costs, overtime, material utilization, and production efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain standard work practices and operating procedures.
  • Identify equipment, staffing, and process improvements to support business growth.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Engineering regarding fabrication drawings, specifications, and manufacturing challenges.
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Purchasing to resolve material shortages and ensure adequate inventory.
  • Coordinate with Assembly and Project Management teams to align production schedules and customer delivery requirements.
  • Provide production updates and reporting to senior leadership.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 4+ years of manufacturing or fabrication experience in a leadership role.
  • Experience leading fabrication operations involving sheet metal, welding, machining, or industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Strong knowledge of fabrication processes, production scheduling, and manufacturing best practices.
  • Proven experience managing supervisors and large production teams.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and fabrication specifications.
  • Strong understanding of quality systems and production controls.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and production reporting tools.

Preferred

  • Experience in HVAC manufacturing, custom equipment fabrication, or industrial manufacturing.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement training/certification.
  • Familiarity with ASME, SMACNA, or applicable fabrication standards.
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing environment with regular exposure to noise, dust, machinery, welding operations, and industrial equipment.
  • Frequent walking throughout fabrication and production areas.
  • Ability to stand and move throughout the facility for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting of materials or equipment up to 25 pounds.
  • Must wear required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed footwear, and other protective equipment as required
