Job Description

The Maintenance Engineer will support a 4–5 month installation project at a large data center site, focusing on the assembly and handling of industrial-sized hood kits. This role involves hands-on mechanical work, including use of power, hand, and pneumatic tools, as well as forklifts, to ensure that all components are safely and accurately assembled, inspected, and staged according to project requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble industrial-sized hood kits according to specifications and project requirements.
  • Load and unload parts and materials safely at the work site.
  • Use power tools, hand tools, and pneumatic tools to complete mechanical assembly tasks.
  • Operate forklifts to move large assembled kits and materials around the site.
  • Perform quality inspections on assembled kits to ensure accuracy, safety, and compliance with standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including regular site clean-up.
  • Follow all instructions, procedures, and safety guidelines provided by the onsite leadership team.
  • Work collaboratively within a small team to meet production goals and timelines.
  • Adhere to OSHA and site-specific safety practices while using grinders, saws, and other equipment.
  • Support continuous workflow under a tightly run operation, adapting to changing priorities and tasks as needed.

Essential Skills

  • At least 5 years of experience using power tools in a mechanical, maintenance, construction, or assembly environment.
  • At least 5 years of experience using hand tools for mechanical or assembly work.
  • At least 5 years of experience performing high-level mechanical or assembly tasks.
  • Experience using pneumatic tools in an industrial or construction setting.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts to move large and heavy assemblies.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards and safe work practices.
  • Proficiency in using grinders and saws for cutting, shaping, or finishing materials.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to read and follow instructions and assembly procedures.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, moving, and standing for extended periods.
  • Reliability and willingness to follow direction in a structured, production-focused environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Mechanics, maintenance, high-level assembly, construction, or other mechanical fields.
  • Experience working on industrial or large-scale installation projects.
  • Comfort working in an outdoor production environment under tents with variable weather conditions.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a small team and communicate clearly with supervisors and teammates.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, accurate assemblies.
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced, tightly managed operation with clear performance expectations.

Work Environment

Employees work in two teams of three, under the supervision of onsite leadership, within a tightly run, production-focused operation that emphasizes safety, organization, and efficiency. Standard work attire should be appropriate for an outdoor industrial setting, including clothing and footwear suitable for physical labor and tool use.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
