Facilities Maintenance Technician

Talascend is currently seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Columbus, Ohio.

Overview

The main function of a facilities maintenance technician is to provide general maintenance support for the assigned buildings, ensuring safety, security, and proper operation of building systems. This role involves troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and repairs to various mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the facility to ensure that it remains safe, secure, and well-maintained
• Troubleshoot power, HVAC system and controls, and mechanical systems
• Maintain general and preventative maintenance, carpentry, plumbing systems, and vendor management
• Replace lighting system bulbs and ballasts as needed
• Move office furniture, machinery, equipment, and other materials as requested
• Perform daily building system start-up procedures including fire pumps, water heaters, boilers, elevators, and compressors
• Conduct miscellaneous repairs such as painting and hardware maintenance

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• 5-7 years of experience required
• Master HVAC fundamentals including system components, electrical wiring, and refrigerant handling
• Ability to analyze complex system issues using building automation systems, blueprints, schematics, pressure readings, and airflow measurements
• Experience executing comprehensive preventive maintenance programs for HVACR and chiller systems
• Knowledge of electrical systems including low and medium voltage power distribution and lighting systems
• Experience installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems and other facility systems
• Interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
• Basic ability to work independently and manage time

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with building automation systems, blueprints, and schematics
• Knowledge of refrigerant handling and HVAC system diagnostics

The shift for this role is from 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm on second shift.
