Occupational Therapist School Setting - Romulus, MI

A rewarding part-time opportunity is available for a passionate Occupational Therapist interested in supporting students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. This contract position focuses on providing school-based occupational therapy services within a collaborative educational environment near Romulus, MI. The ideal candidate will bring knowledge from various OT settings, including schools, home health, and general healthcare, applying best practices to enhance student learning and participation.

Key Qualifications:

• Active or eligible Michigan Occupational Therapy license required
• Experience in educational settings preferred, especially with IEPs, conducting evaluations, and direct therapy
• Strong communication skills for working with students, educators, and families
• Flexibility and adaptability to support a diverse caseload (PK-12)
• Commitment to fostering student independence, self-advocacy, and functional skills

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver occupational therapy services according to students' Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Assess, document, and monitor students’ progress, adjusting therapy as needed
• Collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to create a supportive learning atmosphere
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute expert recommendations
• Maintain relevant records, reports, and comply with state and federal special education regulations
• Provide consultation and guidance for classroom modifications and assistive equipment as applicable
