Job Title: Saw/Machine Operator - 2nd Shift - $20-$24 - Stevens, PA

Job Description

This role operates and sets up a variety of metal fabrication equipment to produce high-quality frame parts and components according to specifications. The Machine Operator prepares materials, performs precision bending and cutting, inspects finished parts, and ensures safe, efficient operation of machinery in a clean, high-tech production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up saws, brake presses, shear presses, and other bending and metal cutting equipment to bend, notch, punch, form, or straighten frame parts according to specifications.
  • Operate shear and other metal cutting equipment to cut materials to required dimensions, ensuring accuracy in width, length, and angles.
  • Prepare, load, and unload materials for operation, ensuring correct placement and secure handling of all workpieces.
  • Check the width, length, and angles of metal components to confirm they meet required specifications and tolerances.
  • Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and drawings to produce required parts for finished products.
  • Perform precision bending of flat sheet metal into fully formed frames, maintaining consistent quality and alignment.
  • Inspect parts after forming to identify defects, and take corrective action when necessary to maintain quality standards.
  • Uphold and follow all applicable safety standards, procedures, and guidelines while performing all duties.
  • Assist in training and supporting other production team members by demonstrating proper operational procedures and best practices.
  • Make necessary adjustments to equipment during production to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Report production and quality data accurately and in a timely manner, supporting production tracking and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure proper operation of equipment by following preventative maintenance policies and procedures, and verify that all tools are in good condition and properly calibrated before use.
  • Perform all work in compliance with safety, quality, environmental, health and safety (EHS), and production expectations.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and CNC-related equipment as required to complete assigned tasks.
  • Work both independently and as part of a team to meet production goals and deadlines.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in machine operation, including brake press, shear press, saw operation, and other metal fabrication equipment.
  • Ability to set up machines, including performing changeovers and adjustments for different parts and materials.
  • Experience with CNC machines and related machine operating tasks.
  • Strong part inspection skills, including the ability to identify defects and ensure parts meet quality standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Basic math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team in a production environment.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in measuring width, length, and angles of metal components.
  • Comfort using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Ability to check parts for quality to ensure there are no defects.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • 2–4 years of press experience preferred.
  • 2–4 years of shear experience preferred.
  • Mechanical or machine manufacturing experience preferred.
  • General basic computer skills preferred.
  • Experience working in a production or assembly environment.
  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance practices and equipment care.
  • Experience reporting production and quality data in a manufacturing setting.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean, high-tech manufacturing environment focused on precision metal fabrication. You will regularly work with brake presses, shear presses, saws, CNC equipment, and a variety of hand and power tools. The position requires strong attention to detail and the ability to perform consistently in a higher-pressure production setting with defined quality, safety, EHS, and output expectations. Work is performed on the shop floor around active machinery, with adherence to safety procedures and appropriate work attire and protective equipment as required by manufacturing operations.

This is a Contract position based out of Stevens, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
