We are looking for an experienced, motivated Service Writer / Service Advisor to join our team at our independent automotive and diesel repair shop.
The Service Writer is the connection between our customers and technicians. This position requires someone who understands automotive repair, communicates clearly with customers, and can efficiently manage repairs from the initial write-up through final delivery.
Diesel repair experience is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will be comfortable discussing diesel and automotive repairs, understanding technician recommendations, building accurate estimates, and explaining repairs to customers in a straightforward and professional manner.
Schedule
Monday–Thursday | 7:00 AM–6:00 PM
Four-day workweek Friday, Saturday & Sunday off
Responsibilities
· Greet customers and provide a professional, friendly experience
· Listen to customer concerns and accurately document vehicle complaints
· Write repair orders and gather necessary vehicle and customer information
· Communicate customer concerns clearly to technicians
· Review technician findings and diagnostic results
· Build accurate estimates and obtain customer authorization before repairs
· Explain recommended repairs, costs, and repair timelines to customers
· Keep customers informed throughout the repair process
· Communicate additional findings and obtain approval before additional work is performed
· Coordinate with technicians and parts suppliers to keep jobs moving efficiently
· Schedule incoming work and help manage shop workflow
· Review completed repairs and invoices with customers
· Answer customer questions and address concerns professionally
· Maintain accurate and organized repair orders
· Follow up with customers as needed
· Help maintain a professional, organized, and efficient service department
Qualifications
· Previous experience as a Service Writer, Service Advisor, or similar automotive position
· Diesel repair experience preferred
· Strong understanding of automotive and diesel systems
· Ability to understand diagnostic information and technician recommendations
· Excellent customer service and communication skills
· Ability to explain technical information in a way customers can understand
· Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
· Comfortable using computers and shop management software
· Professional attitude and appearance
· Valid driver’s license

Compensation & Benefits
· $70,000–$85,000 annual salary, based on experience
· Monday–Thursday schedule, 7:00 AM–6:00 PM
· Three-day weekend every week
