Control Panel Wireman/Technician

About the Role
Our client, an Auburn Hills engineering and manufacturing solutions provider with over 25 years in business, is looking for a skilled Control Panel Wireman/Technician. They build custom-engineered control solutions including electrical control panels, robotic system engineering, pneumatic assemblies, and custom cable harnesses. This is a hands-on role for someone who can take ownership of a panel build from start to finish and takes pride in quality, safety-compliant work.
Key Responsibilities
- Wire machines and industrial equipment according to schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
- Build and wire control panels from scratch
- Work with a range of components including motors, relays, PLCs, breakers, transformers, terminal blocks, and interlocks
- Perform machine wiring beyond basic three-wire setups, including interlocks and motor connections
- Test fully assembled panels and troubleshoot wiring or functionality issues before delivery, using multimeters, continuity testers, and similar tools
- Label wires, route cleanly, and document work accurately
- Adapt to design revisions or late-stage schematic changes
- Ensure all work meets internal quality checks and applicable safety and electrical standards
- Collaborate with engineers and other team members to keep projects moving
Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret detailed electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
- Hands-on experience wiring machinery or industrial control panels
- Proficient wiring advanced components including PLCs, relays, transformers, and breakers
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with UL508A standards and shop safety protocols preferred
- Exposure to AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or SolidWorks a plus
- High attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
