Love turning detailed signal plans into safe, working intersections? Thrive in the air on a bucket truck and on the ground coordinating crews, inspectors, and stakeholders? This role puts you at the center of overhead signal construction from layout to commissioning.
You Will
- Decode and apply signal layouts and agency specs (TxDOT, City of Austin, COSA, and civil engineer plans).
- Lead intersection measurements, verify bolt patterns, level mast arms, and oversee rigging.
- Run bucket truck operations and uphold aerial safety standards.
- Direct pole and mast arm placement; manage signal head mounting, wire pulls, and controller cabinet installs.
- Own wiring, grounding, conduit routing, and terminations for power and detection.
- Drive safety: daily hazard assessments, toolbox talks, and OSHA compliance.
- Track materials, maintain tools, and log equipment usage.
- Use HCSS HeavyJob for daily reporting of labor, production, and materials; review crew timekeeping and documentation.
- Collaborate with inspectors and stakeholders; troubleshoot, test, and commission systems.
- Close out work: coordinate final inspections, redline as-builts, and confirm MUTCD conformance.
- Partner with Safety Officers on fall protection, grounding, and lift standards.
- Represent the company with clear, professional communicationplus handle other duties as assigned.
Bring
- 5+ years in traffic signal work, including at least 1 year leading a crew.
- Proficiency with traffic signal installation, aerial equipment, and plan/spec interpretation.
- Knowledge of MUTCD, OSHA, and TxDOT/City of Austin/COSA requirements.
- Background in rigging, crane lifts, controller installs, and electrical troubleshooting.
- HCSS HeavyJob and digital documentation experience (preferred).
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record; able to operate company vehicles.
- Flagger, bucket truck safety, and confined space certifications (or ability to obtain upon hire).
Sign-On Bonus
- $5,000 sign-on bonus subject to tax withholding. Eligibility, payment timing, continued-employment requirements, and any repayment will be defined in the Company’s Sign-On Bonus Agreement. You must meet eligibility requirements and execute the agreement to receive the bonus.
Physical Demands
- Outdoor work in changing weather; frequent aerial tasks at height.
- Lift/carry up to 50 lbs; climb ladders; kneel, crouch, and stand for long periods.
- Fine motor skills, visual acuity, and coordination for electrical work.
- Strict PPE use and adherence to safety protocols.
