Job Title: Manufacturing EngineerJob Description

The Manufacturing Engineer is a key member of the Fabrication Group, responsible for the methods, equipment, tooling, fixture design, and procurement of fabricated components. This role involves decision-making in planning, costing, and scheduling aspects of new product development as well as the maintenance of legacy components. Key skills include Design to Manufacture, Assembly, Cost, Supply Chain, and Schedule management. The position requires analyzing manufacturing operations for methods improvements, standardization, scheduling, budgeting, pricing, control, and cost reduction.

Responsibilities
  • Recommend and implement improvements in flow, process, tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Specify detailed planning of individual products and processes.
  • Provide support to manufacturing for process/tooling or methods correction, improvement, or initiation.
  • Participate in engineering design reviews for new products and design changes.
  • Lead or participate in the specification of new capital equipment needs, prepare Statement of Work documentation, and communicate with suppliers.
  • Coordinate and aid in the preparation of capital assets and expenditure budgets.
  • Investigate and analyze requests for equipment and facility additions or changes.
  • Prepare manpower and machine loading data and conduct capacity studies.
  • Work with suppliers for outside processing of machined parts.
  • Develop cost studies of new manufacturing methods and prepare summary briefings with recommendations.
  • Support CNC areas with part program preparation.
  • Develop and recommend courses of action in manufacturing.
  • Maintain frequent contact with internal and external personnel to convey ideas involving production parts, supplies, equipment, and materials.
  • Support MRB with rework instructions and corrective actions.
  • Perform special assignments as requested by management.
  • Direct other personnel to expedite completion of special and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Understand and enforce AS9100 standards through operations and manufacturing processes.
  • Interface with ERP programs to execute operational excellence.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
  • 7-10 years of experience in manufacturing, particularly in Aerospace, Automotive, and Industrial sectors.
  • Experience in standard machining operations, including turning, milling, and grinding.
  • Hands-on experience with CNC multi-axis machines.
  • CAD design/drawing experience with CATIA V5, SolidWorks, and/or Creo.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, LEAN tools, and Six Sigma.
  • Proficiency with GIBBSCAM programming or equivalent programs such as MASTERCAM, ESPIRIT, or BOBCAT.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Job-related experience considered in lieu of educational certifications.
  • Experience with manufacturing process improvements.
  • Exposure to quality management systems.
Work Environment

The Manufacturing Engineer will collaborate with floor staff, operations supervisors for fabrication, quality, and test engineering. This position allows for project ownership. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Valencia, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $93.56 - $126.94/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
