The Mechanical Design Engineer designs and modifies stainless steel products to meet customer specifications, using SolidWorks and other 3D CAD tools. This role focuses on customizing existing product lines and supporting new product development by translating customer requirements into detailed mechanical designs, coordinating with production and assembly teams, and ensuring designs align with manufacturing processes, timelines, and cost targets.
ResponsibilitiesThis role is based at a large manufacturing facility that produces stainless steel products for the food service industry, material handling, and supermarkets. The plant manufactures a wide range of products such as lunchroom tables, grills, fryers, ovens, refrigerators, and shelving for restaurants, with complete assembly of products performed on site. The location also serves as the headquarters, housing functions such as human resources, sales, accounting, and executive leadership. The Mechanical Design Engineer will work within the Engineering Design Group, which consists of approximately 25 team members, including those focused on sales order engineering and product development. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The environment is team-oriented, with a large workforce and many long-tenured employees, and offers eligibility for overtime. The role involves close interaction with production and assembly areas, working with stainless steel and sheet metal manufacturing processes in a professional industrial setting.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Clayton, DE.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.85 - $55.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
