Description
The Heavy Civil ConstructionForeman plays a crucial role in leading and managing assigned design and construction projects/teams. Reporting to the Superintendent, the Foreman is responsible for achieving the company’s objectives, adhering to safety protocols, and ensuring project goals are met within the established schedule and budget.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain construction schedules aligned with project objectives.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and delegate tasks to crew members.
  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with quality standards on construction sites.
  • Maintain regular communication with property owners, tenants, and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor project timelines and budgets to ensure successful completion.
  • Assess productivity rates and provide progress reports to supervisors.
  • Review and interpret project plans, drawings, specifications, and blueprints.
  • Organize work schedules and manage crew attendance.
  • Oversee the operation of machinery and equipment on-site.
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to crew members, contractors, and workers based on project priorities.
  • Promote and enforce the safe use of all tools and safety gear, including helmets and goggles.
  • Manage team performance to maintain project schedules.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
  • Advanced understanding of construction procedures, equipment, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and construction documents.
  • Strong organizational and time-management capabilities.
  • Effective problem-solving skills to address routine issues.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Demonstrated leadership and warm managerial style.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in a supervisory or related role.
  • Demonstrated leadership and the ability to drive projects to timely completion within budget.
  • Experience in hiring, training, and managing workers.
  • Skilled in sourcing and overseeing construction tools and materials.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to outdoor weather.
  • Capability to stand, walk, climb, bend, and lift for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Manual dexterity and the ability to use construction tools and equipment.
  • Good vision (with or without corrective lenses) and hearing to ensure safe site practices.
