Job Title: Material ExpeditorJob Description

The Material Expeditor oversees end-to-end material flow within a global supply chain, ensuring that parts are expedited, routed, and dispatched on time to meet production schedules. This role reviews the master production schedule to identify potential or actual material shortages, coordinates corrective actions, and maintains accurate documentation of material status, changes, and schedule modifications. The Material Expeditor works closely with suppliers and cross-functional teams through phone, email, and in-person collaboration to resolve issues quickly and keep production running smoothly.

Responsibilities
  • Review the master production schedule regularly to identify potential or actual material shortages and risks to on-time production.
  • Alert appropriate stakeholders to material issues and collaborate on corrective actions to protect production schedules.
  • Coordinate expediting, routing, and dispatching of parts and materials to ensure timely delivery to production lines.
  • Arrange in-house transportation or logistics solutions as needed to move materials between locations.
  • Initiate and track actions for damaged materials, including repair orders or replacement requests.
  • Generate and maintain progress reports on schedule status, material availability, and order completion.
  • Track completed orders and update records to reflect current material status and inventory levels.
  • Document material changes, substitutions, shortages, and schedule modifications in relevant systems.
  • Use ERP/MRP systems and SAP to manage material planning, inventory transactions, purchase orders, and production-related data.
  • Monitor and support material planning and inventory management activities, including sequencing, cycle counts, and parts inventory accuracy.
  • Coordinate with procurement, planners, production, shipping and receiving, and other cross-functional teams to resolve material issues.
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers via phone and email to expedite orders, address delays, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Leverage Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel to analyze data, prepare reports, and support decision-making.
  • Support purchasing and proposals activities by providing accurate material status, lead times, and availability information.
  • Assist with crisis management related to urgent material shortages or disruptions, prioritizing critical needs and implementing contingency plans.
  • Maintain attention to detail and accuracy in all documentation, data entry, and reporting related to materials and schedules.
  • Operate within established processes and procedures while identifying opportunities for improvement in material flow and supply chain efficiency.
  • Work to tight schedules in a dynamic environment, managing time and priorities to meet production and business goals.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • 3–5 years of experience working as a Material Expeditor.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience using Microsoft Office and SAP.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems for material planning and inventory management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for data analysis, reporting, and tracking.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for interaction with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
  • Procurement and commercial awareness, including business acumen and analytical skills.
  • Experience with material planning and inventory management, including parts inventory and sequencing.
  • Knowledge of production processes and supply chain operations.
  • Ability to manage purchase orders and support purchasing activities.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and data entry.
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capability to support crisis management related to material shortages or supply disruptions.
  • Ability to coordinate shipping and receiving activities as they relate to material flow.
  • US citizenship (as required for this role).

Work Environment

This role operates within a dynamic production and supply chain environment that requires regular interaction with planning, procurement, production, and logistics teams. You will work with technologies such as SAP, ERP/MRP systems, and the Microsoft Office Suite, with a particular emphasis on Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting. The position follows a hybrid schedule with a minimum of 2 days on site each week and the flexibility to support up to 4 days on site as program needs require. Occasional driving to facilities in East Camden, Arkansas and/or Lufkin, Texas may be required. The work involves managing tight schedules, responding to changing priorities, and supporting crisis situations related to material flow, all while maintaining high standards of accuracy and attention to detail.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Grand Prairie, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.25/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
