Direct Counsel is seeking an Associate Attorney with 2–4 years of experience to join a leading Pensions, Benefits & Investments practice. This opportunity focuses on assisting an investment team with alternative investment and private fund investments across a range of asset classes.
The ideal candidate will have corporate or transactional experience, strong academic credentials, and the ability to take ownership of significant investment transactions in a collaborative, hybrid work environment.
Responsibilities
Assist with alternative investment and private fund investments across various asset classes
Support the investment team throughout sophisticated investment transactions
Draft, review, and negotiate corporate and transactional documents
Take ownership of significant components of investment transactions
Collaborate with attorneys and investment professionals throughout the transaction process
Requirements
2–4 years of corporate or transactional legal experience
Experience or interest in alternative investments and/or private fund transactions
Strong academic credentials
Excellent analytical, drafting, and communication skills
Ability to take ownership of significant transactions and work independently
Strong attention to detail and sound judgment
Admission to the state bar in the jurisdiction where the candidate applies
Compensation
The annual salary range for a 2–4 year Associate Attorney is $195,000–$220,000. Actual compensation will depend on qualifications, experience, and other relevant factors.
Associates are also eligible for annual bonuses, including a bonus equal to 15% of base compensation upon meeting the firm's 1,850 annual billable-hour expectation, which includes up to 100 hours of approved pro bono work.
