Job Description

Job Description
Precision Grinding Quality Assurance Inspector

Location: Houston, TX

A day in the life

Your shift begins at the bench, zeroing calipers and micrometers and validating dial bore gages. You open the job traveler, review the blueprint, and kick off a First Article Inspection to confirm the first part is exactly to spec. You capture readings, validate hardness on the tester, and record everything in our ERP system. Mid-morning, a tolerance drift triggers a quick 5 Why session with production. You analyze the data, refine the SOP, and help the team lock the process back in. In the afternoon, you run Non-Destructive Testing, complete final verifications, and close the loop with clear, traceable documentation.

What you will do
  • Inspect precision ground parts against drawings and specifications, ensuring conformance at every step.
  • Operate and trust, but verify, with calipers, micrometers, dial bore gages, and hardness testers.
  • Lead and document First Article Inspections (FAI) for new and revised work.
  • Create, follow, and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that keep quality predictable.
  • Apply 5 Why root cause analysis to contain defects and prevent recurrence.
  • Perform tolerance analysis to validate capability against requirements.
  • Use Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) to confirm material integrity without compromise.
  • Read and interpret complex blueprints to guide precise measurement strategies.
  • Collaborate with production to drive continuous improvement and repeatable outcomes.
  • Capture accurate, audit-ready data and results in ERP.
What you bring
  • Hands-on quality inspection experience, ideally with precision grinding operations.
  • Deep working knowledge of quality control practices and metrology principles.
  • Expertise with measurement gauges and NDT techniques.
  • Fluency reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
  • Comfort with tolerance analysis and precision measurement strategies.
  • Competence using ERP software for documentation and reporting.
  • Strong problem-solving instincts and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Exacting attention to detail; effective both independently and on a team.
