Shift Differential : +$5.00/hr

Regular Schedule:Hours: Monday – Thursday: 3:30pm to 2am

Madison Wood manufactures high quality pressure treated lumber and is seeking a motivated Night Shift Treating Operator. This hands-on role combines working directly with the lumber treating process and inventory tracking system, with approximately 20% treating and 80% forklift operation. Qualified applicants must be able to use simple computer systems and operate large diesel industrial forklifts.The night shift includes a $5/hour differential included in the total pay range.The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and follows safety procedures closely.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Safely load and unload lumber onto chains that feed into the treating cylinders.

  • Operate stationary machinery

  • Utilize computer systems to operate treating controls and inventory tracking software.

  • Collect samples from lumber after it is treated.

  • Receive and maintain RCRA/Hazardous Waste Training and Certification.

  • Receive and maintain Pesticide Applicator Certification issued by the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

  • Test samples and record test results.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of production and work areas, including hazardous waste clean up.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Physical & Environmental Requirements:

  • Must be able to receive and maintain pesticide applicator certification by the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

  • Ability to work full-time 40 hours per week

  • Ability to work overtime, extended hours, weekends, or alternate shifts as business needs require

  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions

  • Ability to stand and walk on hard surfaces continuously for 8–10 hours per shift

  • Ability to navigate stairs, inclines, and uneven surfaces

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with and without assistance

  • Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks, including lifting/overhead lifting, reaching, bending, gripping, and material handling throughout the shift

  • Ability to safely operate power tools, forklifts, and heavy machinery

  • Ability to work around loud noise levels for extended periods of time

  • Ability to work in environments with dust, vibration, and industrial chemicals

Minimum Qualifications

  • Previous forklift experience

  • Ability to use simple computer systems including inventory tracking software

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety

  • Ability to safely operate power tools, chainsaws, and heavy machinery

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
