The CNC Machinist will operate vertical mill machines in a custom, one-off production environment. This role focuses on setting up machines, calibrating tools, and ensuring quality through careful inspection and blueprint reading. The machinist will run pre-programmed CNC equipment and perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning and lubrication to maintain optimal machine performance.
Responsibilities
- Set up vertical mill CNC machines according to production specifications
- Calibrate and maintain cutting tools for accurate machining
- Inspect finished parts to ensure quality and adherence to blueprints
- Read and interpret blueprints to guide machining processes
- Handle materials safely and efficiently during production
- Monitor production runs to maintain workflow and quality standards
- Troubleshoot minor machine issues and adjust settings as needed
- Document production activities and machine parameters
- Perform routine cleaning and lubrication to maintain machines
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in CNC machining
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating CNC vertical mills
- Strong blueprint interpretation skills
- Effective problem-solving abilities
- High attention to detail
- Manual dexterity for precise machine operation
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to CNC machining
